Submission Guidelines
Welcome to Digital Weft!
Digital Weft is a collective of writers who share stories, poems and articles about whatever weaves its way through our imagination. We would love to read your work and feature new voices alongside our own.
We are still a growing project, and while we’re not yet in a position to pay contributors (beyond those who win our competitions), it is something that we’re rapidly working toward. In the meantime, we’re able to promote social media growth and websites, but we hope to change that soon.
If you’re interested in submitting, we would of course love to hear from you. Please check the notes for each of the following areas:
General Rules
- We welcome submissions from writers of all backgrounds and experience levels.
- We do not accept any AI-generated content. All submissions must be the original work of the author.
- We prefer work that hasn’t appeared elsewhere, though you retain all copyright to your writing. By submitting, you grant Digital Weft first publication rights and permission to keep your work in our online archive.
- Simultaneous submissions are absolutely fine, just let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere.
- We’re open to a wide range of styles and genres, from literary realism to speculative fiction, poetry and essays, as well as articles on a variety of topics. What matters most to us is what you want to write.
- While we are unable to financially compensate at this time, we fully believe in nurturing the skills of a wider community of writers. We are happy to provide editing and feedback, to build a sustainable community of writers that nourish each other’s progress. We occasionally hold webinars for our writers on a variety of topics, and will expand these as interests and needs grow.
Articles
We’re open to almost anything, as long as it feels at home within the Digital Weft tapestry.
You might want to write about a scene in a film that shaped you, a place that left its mark, a creative process you love or an idea you can’t stop thinking about. Your article could be reflective, informative, personal or playful, as long as it carries your voice and offers something for readers to hold.
Please note, most of the articles we publish are 800 – 2,000 words, though we will consider articles at either side of that in some cases.

Short Stories
Stories are at the heart of Digital Weft. We love writing that threads imagination with emotion, whether it’s drawn from real life, entirely invented or somewhere in between.
We welcome everything from flash fiction to narrative experiments, reimagined myths or glimpses of lived experience told through a storyteller’s lens. If your piece unfolds like a story, it belongs here.
We are open to all genres and styles. What matters most is authenticity, that your piece carries your voice and leaves an impact on an audience.

Poetry
We welcome all forms and styles of poetry, from bite-sized haikus to long-form traditional poems. We love work that feels free to explore, whether that exploration be of an emotion, an experience, an object, the world… the beauty here is that there’s space to play.
Poetry can take on many forms and we’re excited by work that feels like it comes from a distinct voice.

Serialised Fiction
Serialised fiction lets a story unfold over multiple chapters, giving readers the chance to follow characters, settings, and ideas as they develop. We are interested in narratives that sustain interest, and are happy to see any genre.
When submitting a serialised work, we ask for a clear outline of your story and an idea of how many chapters you plan to write.
